The #1 Reason You Do Not Get A Reply To Your Emails Asking For A Placement Or A Job & How To Fix This
Posted By: Andy Barker
Have you ever sent an email asking for a placement or job and got turned down…
Maybe you did not even got a reply!
Have you submitted your CV and applied for jobs but never heard anything back?
It’s so demoralising because you know you could do a good job in the role, but you just need the chance to show this.
This is a massive issue…
Because as good as you might be, if nobody is going to give you that chance, then you may never fulfill your potential and get the job roles you really want.
But, the great thing is that opening doors to your dream placement or job is actually much easier than you think, you just need to know how to play the game.
If you can understand exactly what employers are looking for, it is easy to position yourself in the right away, to differentiate yourself from every other therapist vying for that same role, and get your foot in the door.
The first thing you need to do, or really what you need to STOP doing is asking for a placement or a job.
What?
Your probably thinking, Andy, how am I going to get a placement or job if I do not reach out and try to get one?
Let me explain.
Any relationship is a process of giving and taking.
A fair and equal relationship is just that, even, and has a similar amount of give and take.
Any relationship that favours one side more than the other is unlikely to succeed and will not stand the test of time.
When you send that email asking for a placement…
Or reach out to that clinic or sports club out to see if any jobs are available, you are taking 100% and giving 0%.
Think about that email…
‘‘I’m Rachael, a 2nd year Sports Therapy student from Leeds Beckett University…
I am looking for a placement…
I would love to work in this area in the future so I believe…
I need to complete 200 hours towards my degree…
I can complete the placement between 1st July…’’
Look familiar?
Take a look at the text again.
There is zero mention of what you are going to offer in return.
It is all about you, ’I’m’…’I need’…’’I can’’ and no mention of anything else.
100% taking and 0% giving.
Not only that, but this is the approach that 99% of therapists make when trying to get their foot in the door.
If you are doing the exact same as everybody else and trying to secure a placement or job role in this way, especially for an opportunity that is high in demand (think about those best placements or jobs)…
Then it is likely you are just another name on CV and letter of application…
Or another email request that will get ignored.
You need to be able to set yourself apart from everyone else, stand out from the crowd if you want to get the best placements and jobs.
You might be thinking this is hard, especially given you have little experience, but that is where you are wrong.
If you know how to do this and you are armed with the right information about how to do this, it is actually a simple process.
If you want to learn exactly how this is done to help you get to where you want to be, to take control of your own career journey then you can not afford to miss my next FREE event…
